The center is open year round and offers weekly interpretive programs to the public, nature studies for schools children, guided nature walks, or if you prefer, self-guided wildlife viewing and photo opportunities. Eagle River Nature Center also has a cabin and a couple of yurts available for public use—call in advance for reservations.
History: Eagle River and the surrounding area was homesteaded after World War II. The new Glenn Highway opened up this area making it easily accessible from Anchorage.
How to get there: To get to Eagle River, Alaska, drive north out of Anchorage on the Glenn Highway about 15 miles.
Facilities: Eagle River, Alaska has just about everything, motels, restaurants, an nice car wash for both personal vehicles and RVs, a quilt shop, movie theriter, ice skating, hockey and speed skating supermarkets, Laundromat, post office, gas stations, you name it.
